Span III — The Pier Row

How The Work Is Carried Pier To Pier

An engagement on our structures begins with the survey. We walk the full length of the intended crossing before cutting ground, reading the existing estate of applications, the data held in each store and the flows that currently pass between them. Nothing is assumed; every claim is confirmed against the running systems so the design rests on measured ground rather than on hopeful memory.

When the survey closes we lay the footings. Foundations are the agreements that nothing upstream will spoil downstream — standards for naming, formats, identities and error handling are fixed first, because a pier is only as true as the ground beneath it and no arch will bear weight on shifting beds.

Then the arches rise. Each service is built and tested as its own masonry span, so one failed course can be corrected without redrawing the work of the others. When the separate arches stand, we throw the deck across them: the integrations that join every bay into one continuous road, under one set of operating rules and one monitoring eye.

Lastly we hand over the crossing to the people who will carry it forward. Documentation is written for the crew who tend the structure, alerts are set at the right thresholds and the team that commissioned the work is shown how to run, inspect and season its new span long after the building yard has gone quiet.

This is why the picture of the work matters as much as the work itself. A crossing that no one will maintain is a crossing that slowly settles and shifts until a long quiet morning brings an unwelcome surprise. So we do not pretend the handover is complete when the code is pushed; we remain at the abutment until the crew that inherits the structure can carry a full day of traffic on their own judgment. Can we carry the crossing for a US operator outside Utah?

Yes. Much of our design and delivery work is done remotely over secure channels, and we are glad to support clients across the United States.

How soon does a project start producing working spans?

We work in vertical slices. A first usable bay is delivered in the first weeks of an engagement, not at the end.

Do we have to clear the old system before the new one stands?

No. Modernisation runs alongside your current operation so business never has to stop while the new structure is raised.
